| Artist Statement: “Transparent color and soft light signify my Plein air paintings. Working in pastel, I start with a color glaze under painting, similar to the old master’s technique in oil. Drawn to the coastal areas of New England, I work to capture the afternoon light in a quiet location along a salt marsh or beach. Holding a BFA in fashion design from Parson’s School of Design, I spent many years designing footwear. Having returned to my first love, Plein air painting, my design training translates into color harmony, composition, and mood.” |
